Meet Our Teachers and Staff
What really makes Miss Sue’s stand out are the people who we call family. Our teachers and staff may overflow with certifications and degrees, but the true source of their impact is their clear love of learning and teaching. Consisting of a collection of highly-trained and enthusiastic educators, our team grows alongside our students in philosophy, mindset, and creativity over the course of each school year.
The family we have chosen here are more than simply educators—they’re passionate teachers who care deeply for their students. At the opening of each new school year, we find ourselves in awe of the energy, effort, and inventiveness of our team. Their upstanding example and thoughtful lessons stay with our students long after they leave the classroom.
Ronnie Kuznetz, Owner and Director
Ronnie has been Miss Sue’s owner and director for over 45 years. He has whole-heartedly dedicated his life to the kids. His mother Miss Sue started the nursery school in their basement and garage. When it was time for Ronnie to decide the details of his future, he attended Queens College and graduated as the only male majoring in childhood education. While teaching at Miss Sue’s, his innovative mind designed and developed what became known as “Miss Sue’s Nursery School and Summer Fun Day Camp.” Years later, he proudly purchased and opened Driftwood Day Camp. Alongside his son in-law Wags, he works continuously to make Driftwood the best day camp on Long Island. Not only is Ronnie devoted to helping children grow, learn, and develop, he has given everything to his community. He is the past president of the Long Island Camp Association and has spent many hours speaking at various national and local educational conventions. And that’s not all, Ron is a former athlete, marathon runner, and participant in NASA’s Teacher in Space program.
Michael Wagenberg, Owner and Director
Mike or, as many of us know him, “Wags” has been a proud owner of Miss Sue’s Nursery School for 36 years. Although he has held that title for over three decades, his time at Miss Sue’s and Driftwood Day Camp started long before then. Mike started working as a counselor at Miss Sue’s Summer Fun when he was only 15 years old. After obtaining a bachelor’s of science at Syracuse University, he developed his career in food management by working at Marriott Hotels for almost a decade. While working at camp on the side, he realized his strong love for working with children. Because of this, he put his food management career aside to fully commit to making this the best day camp ever. Ever since then, he is always thinking of ways to improve his businesses, just as a true project manager would. Mike has been happily married to Marissa for 18 years. They have three wonderful children and two dogs. When he is not busy with work or family, he can be found on the couch watching movies or out riding around on snowmobiles and ATVs. He also loves to travel—his favorite destinations include Turks and Caicos, Disney, Universal, and Hawaii.

She spends her free time reading, vacationing with her husband Mike and their three children, and spending time with friends and her two dogs, Zoe and Bella. Jodi also serves as the director for the two and three-year-old campers at Driftwood during the summer.

Though her family keeps her life busy with activities, she likes to read biographies, watch documentaries, and travel (she loved Hawaii!) when she has free time.
